Toilet Ek Prem Katha box office collection: It came with a message to create awareness against open defecation in India and Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Padnekar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has turned into one of the most successful of movies with this simple theme – it seems unstoppable at the moment as the earnings are rising majestically day after day. After making a decent business on box office in its opening week, the movie has been running successfully in its second week. The movie, which has already entered into the Rs 100 crore club, has made a total business of Rs 120.15 crore after 12 days of its release.
After aggressive promotion and a lot of buzz owing to the theme of the film, Shree Narayan Singh directorial Toilet: Ek Prem Katha hit the silver screen on August 11. On the first day of its release, the film managed to mint Rs 13.10 crore and ran successfully throughout the week. In the second week, it got a competition with Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon starrer Bareilly Ki Barfi. But it seems to have been least affected, as it made a business of Rs 4 crore on Friday, which jumped further in the second weekend with earnings of Rs 6.75 crore and Rs 8.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, as per the data revealed by movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh. “#ToiletEkPremKatha [Week 2] Fri 4 cr, Sat 6.75 cr, Sun 8.25 cr, Mon 2.60 cr, Tue 2.50 cr. Not only in India, the film has been gaining popularity in neighboring nation Pakistan as well. According to Bollywood Hungama, the Akshay Kumar starrer has been doing well in Pakistan. It has so far collected Rs 2.27 crore in the country, said the report. The film has also gone past the lifetime earning of Akshay’s previous film Jolly LLB 2, which earned Rs 117 crore, as per Bollywood Hungama.
Meanwhile, Bareilly Ki Barfi has managed to cross Rs 15 crore till day 5. According to Taran Adarsh, the romantic comedy, which also features Rajkumar Rao, has collected Rs 1.90 crore and Rs 2 crore on Monday and Tuesday, respectively that added to its opening weekend collection and took it to Rs 15.42 crore. “#BareillyKiBarfi Fri 2.42 cr, Sat 3.95 cr, Sun 5.15 cr, Mon 1.90 cr, Tue 2 cr.
