The box office definitely belonged to the ‘Bhaijaan’ of Bollywood this time! Superstar Salman Khan’s magic just doesn’t seem to fade away with his most recent release ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ climbing towards a grand success. The film, also starring Katrina Kaif, was released on 22 December last year, and has had a triumphant run on the box office since then. And now the film has become the third highest grosser as far as domestic collections are concerned. Yes, the Kabir Khan directorial has collected a massive Rs 339 crore to become the third highest domestic grosser, beating Mr.Perfectionist’s ‘PK’ which made Rs 337.72 crore at the domestic box office. The feat establishes Salman Khan’s dominance as far as domestic collections are concerned.
In the eight weeks of the movie hitting the theatres, it has been consistently minting money at the box office. The audience have loved it and the movie continues to rake a lot of moolah. What’s more, Tiger Zinda Hai is inching closer to its closest competitor ‘Dangal’. The Aamir Khan film has collected Rs 374.53 at the domestic box office. Hence, the sequel of Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger will need to perform for a few more weeks to breach that milestone. The top position in the list of domestic grossers goes to Prabhas starrer blockbuster Baahubali 2 that has minted Rs 510.36 at the box office.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the collections of Tiger Zinda Hai that showed a considerable drop in the domestic collection despite the fact that Bhai’s fans are still queueing up outside the theatres to see their favourite actor playing the role of a spy performing mind-boggling stunts. Tiger Zinda Hai saw Salman deliver a power-packed performance after witnessing a dip in a few earlier movies. In the last few weeks, the film has got a fight from Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat and Akshay Kumar’s PadMan. In its 7th and 8th week, Tiger Zinda Hai managed to collect Rs 89 lakhs and 8 lakhs respectively at the domestic box office. In its opening week, the film had opened with a whopping Rs 206.04 Crore.
