Tanu Weds Manu Returns box office collections, Rs 108.12 crore in domestic markets and Rs 144.36 crore when the global take is added, has put Kangana Ranaut on top of the world, almost.

The best part for Kangana Ranaut, and Tanu Weds Manu Returns, is that the film, which received fulsome praise from both the critics and the audiences, is still doing brisk business – this may well have to do with the fact that there is virtually no competition in theatres with ‘Karachi’ having fallen into an abyss on release.

Also check: Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ box office collections cross ‘Rs 165 crore’ worldwide

In this box office collections report, we take a look at the second weekend collections of Tanu Weds Manu Returns while comparing them to that of previously released films. Interestingly, when compared to films that released in 2015, Tanu Weds Manu Returns ranks as the highest Second Weekend grosser collecting Rs 28.3 crore, beating other big ticket releases like Amitabh Bachchan starrer Piku and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ and ‘Gabbar Is Back’, and others.

Chart 1:

On the other hand when compared to films that released before 2015, Tanu Weds Manu Returns comes in fifth, preceded by releases like the massive Aamir Khan starrer ‘PK’, or the equally compelling Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Krrish 3’, Aamir Khan’s ‘Dhoom 3’ and Salman Khan starrer ‘Kick’.

As you can see, there is no Shahrukh Khan in the equation. Go figure!

A great acting by kangana especially after interval as Haryanvi character. First Ever, Haryanvi marriage is shown in Bollywood theme is too good which should be taken up on nationwide TV serials and that would only be the graude to nation's "Betiyan". Honour killings can be stopped by educating people through TV channels boldly.

Khan brothers ,H. roshan and others who r super kings of Boliwood r increasing tickets rate 3 times, books all screens, runs about 15 shows in day,not allowing other films to releas around it, selects the Diwali, Idd, etc time. arrange big promos on T V .By doing these ,they enters in the club of 100 ,200 ,400. crores .It is black marketing and cheating and exploytation.if 100 crores people see their movie then it should be a film of club of 100 crores. The chinnai express,bang-bang[strocks in head],son of sardar, happy new year[on seeing it no body can be happy for w year]are all bogus giving headache, horrible experience,no body would like to remember to hv seen such movie.A consumer is enled to get back money if the product is not of quality.Similarly viewers who had ventured to see such movie must get his money back.

Fist week is totally based on publicity, the real test for a movie is 2nd week because if the movie is really good then only people go out to watch movie again and also those who are too picky about watching movies in theatres, they also go n watch the movie..Shahrukh is nothing but media hype..he only knows one way to act n dance..totally boring old man :) , chennai express was watchable due to deepika

Are you nuts or what...you are including 2 states krish 3 bang bang etx etc..and you forger that chennai express made a whoping 450cr world wide..beating all these movie and beating salman movie kick also which earned 400cr..HNY earned 390 to 400cr..the three khans are ruling bollywood for over 2 decades and still there films beat others film by huge number in terms of box office collection...so stop comparing the legends with these actors like ranbir, ranveer arjun, hrithic etc

Skewed article. What the heck? While the success of this film should be applauded, what's the point of cherry-picking to fit your thesis here? If you want to compare the films, compare the totals when business finishes. If Tanu Weds Manu Returns beats Chennai Express and Happy New Year in TOTAL earnings, then great. Write an article. Full plaudits to all involved. But right now, it's just silly and misleading clickbait. And I think that if Kangana herself read this, she would be rolling her eyes and saying "Wait...what?" because she has more sense than the authors of this story which has appeared on multiple sites. If you DO want to compare Kangana with SRK, then fine...she has a National Award for acting. He doesn't. so she "beats" him there. But the jury is still out on whether this movie will have the legs to overtake the earnings of SRK's big films in '13 and '14.

It is an Indian movie made for Indian audience especially who know about the culture and language of North Indian states of UP, Haryana, Punjab. If you aren't you will find it boring....for me it was an outstanding movie with not a minute of dull moment...feel sorry for those who failed to understand it. And the second part is 100 times better than the first.
