Salman Khan Sultan ‘raped woman’ row: With Sultan release date drawing near, Salim Khan, father of the superstar and a veteran Bollywood scriptwriter, has again sought to defend his son in this controversy that generated outrage across the country, but this time he has gone into the attack mode rather than being defensive.

Salman Khan had compared his condition after going through the physically tough Sultan shoot to that of a ‘raped woman’, that he could barely walk after it, and this had roundly been condemned by one and all, with the social media especially erupting spontaneously. However, there were many who had defended the actor too.

While Salman Khan had acted coy and refused to directly say anything about it, his attitude was clear from the fact that he did not tender any apology to the National Commission for Women and in fact, he was quoted as saying, he should ‘speak less now’.

Be that as it may, that has not stopped Salim Khan from wading into the controversy again – initially, he had apologised for his son’s statement. But with the passing of time the earlier stance seems to have been shrugged off.

Salim Khan today hit out at the media for unnecessarily blowing up the issue: “Normally, people apologise to get rid of the problem but, I meant it hoping that the problem would be over. But the commercial compulsion of the media wanted to carry it to the saturation point. I regret not knowing this”.

He went on to write, “What is the meaning of getting an apology from a person under the guillotine, who knows rightly or wrongly that he has not committed a crime.”

With Sultan release date being Eid day on Friday 6th July, this latest statement by Salim will surely put Salman Khan back in the spotlight.
