Salman Khan starrer Sultan box office collections: While India at large, and most Indians across the world, are debating the opening weekend collections of the latest Salman Khan release, the film itself has jumped to a significant earnings high in the four days since its release, taking in as much as Rs 142.62 crore till Saturday.

Sultan earnings have already raced past its budget cost, which was Rs 90 cr and the filmmakers are eyeing a huge profitability boost as there is virtually no lag in the momentum of the movie and that means Sunday figures, which are almost always the best of them all for any movie’s lifetime run in theatres, will add further lustre to this sensational run.

So, while Sultan box office collections rocketed to Rs 142.62 crore in 4 days by collecting Rs 36.54 cr on Day 1 (Wed), Rs 37.32 cr on Day 2 (Thu), Rs 31.66 cr on Day 3 (Fri) and Rs 37.10 cr on Day 4 (Sat), the Sunday figure would be even higher, perhaps breaching Rs 40 crore mark as the holiday is bound to have made even the fence-sitters who were undecided, to head for theaters. The hype is bound to lure even the most stout-hearted to watch the movie in cinemas and this is despite the fact that the pirates are likely having a field day and making money hand-over-fist at Salman Khan’s cost.

This great big booster shot will also go a long way in establishing Anushka Sharma as one of the more sellable women stars – the list is quite small. She now has as many as 2 films in the Rs 100 cr club and henceforth, she will be able to command a better price as well as pick and choose the films she wants. The highest that her film has been able to achieve is Rs 340.8 crore.

The significance of this amount is the fact that no other female star has reached this score. However, she still has a long way to go in terms of number of movies in the Rs 100 crore club. That title is firmly held by Kareena Kapoor – her best movie ever managed to earn Rs 320.34 crore. Deepika Padukone is in second spot with 6 with the highest amount earned by one of her movies being Rs 227.13 cr. Priyanka Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha and Katrina Kaif make up the top 5. Salman Khan, BTW, has as many as 10.
