Criticising the ‘VIP culture’, social activist Sudha Ramalingam on Wednesday said that BJP MP Hema Malini’s tweet, where the thespian blamed the father of the victim for the accident in Rajasthan’s Dausa district, has come from a person who wants to avoid being criticised.
“This is a statement by a person who wants to avoid being criticised and is shifting the blame from her to the other person. One can drive a Mercedes faster than an Alto. And, I am definite that the father would not have been negligent when his child was with him,” Ramalingam told ANI here.
“We try to deal with our VIPs in a different manner from the ordinary persons. Seeing and hearing about how Hema Malini was rushed to the hospital while the child wasn’t, with equal care and concern, is something atrocious and which you need to think twice about. Hema Malini should have seen to it that the child was taken along with her to the hospital,” she added.
The 66-year-old actor-turned-politician, who returned to Mumbai after getting herself treated on July 6, paid her condolences to the little girl on Twitter, writing, “My heart goes out to the child who unnecessarily lost her life and the family members who have been injured in the accident.”
She further added, “How I wish the girl’s father had followed the traffic rules – thn this accident could have been averted & the lil one’s life safe!”
The mishap occurred on July 2 when the actress’ Mercedes collided with an Alto car, killing one and leaving the remaining people travelling in the Alto car severely injured.
