The trailer of Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann Khurana’s upcoming release, Shubh Mangal Savdhaan was released on Tuesday. If you have watched Ayushmann Khurana’s Vicky Donor, then just know that this movie is exactly the opposite. Directed by R.S. Prasanna, Shubh Mangal Savdhaan revolves around the life of Mudit (Ayushmann Khurana), a man suffering from erectile dysfunction, who falls in love with his neighbour, Sugandha (Bhumi Pednekar). It is the remake of a Tamil film named Kalyana Samayal Saadham.
The official trailer of the movie was released today on the official YouTube page of Eros International Media Ltd. Upon watching the trailer, it is clearly visible how Mudit is coerced by his family to “fix that little thing.” The movie addresses an issue which is considered to be a taboo in the Indian society, reports The Indian Express. We can see Sugandha’s mother explaining to her how significant the wedding night is, for a girl, making small references to the childhood fable of ‘Ali Baba and Forty Thieves.’
It is not strange to see Ayushmann Khurana in such a role. The public, including his fans, is used to seeing him in unconventional movies that question the traditional norms of the society. His previous movie, Vicky Donor, too was unusual, unlike other Bollywood movies, where he performed the role of a sperm donor.

R. S. Prasanna, who also directed the Tamil film Kalyana Samayal Saadham in 2013, has portrayed Ayushmann’s character in a decent manner so as to maintain the gap between vulgar humour and slapstick comedy. According to The Indian Express, the director has portrayed the problem of sexual disorders in India in a funny yet apt manner.
