Wednesday brought some a great news for Shahrukh Khan fans, the much awaited trailor of Rahul Dholakia’s gangster flick Raees was released today. But more than that, the filmmakers have moved the release date to January 25 (from the earlier January 26) and that means fans have a chance to see the movie that much more sooner – surely that counts as a treat! However, changing the reelease day has ensured there is an even bigger clash at the box office than was earlier expected. Why? Because producer Rakesh Roshan’s Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil is expected to release then too.
For Kaabil makers this is the worst news possible. They were trying to avoid the clash on Republic Day with Raees. However, their efforts seemed to have been in vain now as Excel Entertainment and Red Chillies Entertainment have decided to release the long-awaited Shah Rukh Khan film Raees on the same date as Kaabil.
The producer of Kaabil, Rakesh Roshan, seems dissapointed and livid with announcement as he might have had already assumed that everything was sorted after rescheduling the release of his son Hrithik Roshan’s film. DNA quotes Roshan as saying, “Whatever dates we are taking, they are following us. I would have never done the same. I belong to an old school of filmmaking and I have given 50 years of my life to the industry. I would never release my film on a day when another filmmaker has already announced their film. I decided to remove Krrish 4 also from Christmas 2018 because I saw Shah Rukh Khan’s film is coming that day. I could have easily released my film with Befikre or even with Dangal if I had to clash. But when I announced the film in February (2016), I saw a clean window in January (2017) and hence I picked the date. I can’t get into this new groove of things because I don’t understand it.”
Such clashes on the box office is unexpected or sometimes planned. But it would be exciting for the fans to see who rules the box office on Republic Day weekend.
