Secret Superstar China Box Office collection: Another astonishing feat for the Aamir Khan-Zaira Wasim starrer Secret Superstar. Yes! The Advait Chandan directorial achieved yet another feat as it grossed Rs 500 crore in neighbouring country China. After opening to a staggeringly high collection two weeks ago, the film finally crossed the mark just like Aamir Khan’s other blockbuster ‘Dangal’.
On Day 14 of its release, Secret Superstar has managed to draw in a further Rs 17.88 crore (USD 2.79 million) taking its collections at the Chinese box office past the Rs. 500 crore mark with a total of Rs. 508.92 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted after the movie’s staggering feat of collecting a mammoth Rs 500 crore. Adarsh’s tweet read, “Secret Superstar continues its PHENOMENAL RUN in China… Crosses ₹ 500 cr in 2 weeks… Question is, will it cross $ 100 mn? Mon $ 3.43 mn, Tue $ 3.33 mn., Wed $ 3.23 mn, Thu $ 2.82 mn, Total: $ 79.42 million [₹ 509 cr]”
Aamir Khan’s previous films Dangal and PK were also major hits at the Chinese box office. However, Secret Superstar still has a long way to go before it gets near to Dangal’s record in China. The Aamir Khan wrestling saga which also starred Zaira Wasim was a blockbuster hit in China earning Rs 587.17 crore (USD 91.61 million) till its 14th day at the neighbouring country’s theatres. At the end of Day 13, Dangal had collected Rs 558.81 Crore (USD 87.86 million) as compared to Secret Superstar’s Rs. 462.06 cr (USD 72.52 million). However, Dangal remains the highest-grossing Indian film in China and made over Rs. 1,200 crores in the country. Secret Superstar was released on January 19, 2018, in China and on its 11th day, had entered the exclusive Rs 400 crore club. On its week 2, the film collected $3.12 million on Monday while it collected $ 3.20 million on Tuesday.
In Secret Superstar that features Zaira Wasim in the lead role is the story of young girl named as Insia Malik (Zaira Wasim), who fights against all odds to become a popular singer. Aamir Khan plays a fading singer, who helps Insia realise her dream. The plot deals with themes like feminism and domestic violence. One can find Insia, a 14-year-old Muslim girl who is passionate about her dream but her overbearing father is against her.
But given the fact that Secret Superstar still continues to run in China, all eyes are now on the question if the business of the film will surpass that of Dangal at the Chinese box office?
