Salman Khan starrer Sultan first Saturday weekend collections scorecard is indeed quite a rocking one. The movie has had a terrific run since its release on Thursday and it has managed to emerge virtually unscathed from being leaked online ahead of release, the shifting of Eid holiday from 6th July to 7th July and then also had to battle the fact that Friday was a working day. Nevertheless, Sultan by Saturday has put itself in a sweet spot to achieve the Rs 150 cr mark and is eyeing the sensational Rs 175+ cr mark looking ahead at Sunday – it has already soared high to become the No. 1 movie of 2016 so far.

This ‘Mission Impossible’-type mark is achievable, considering the mammoth momentum that the movie has acquired. The latest figures show that Sultan box office collections have roared to Rs 105.30 crore in just a 3-day (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) period. The ticking business at the turnstiles also point to the fact that there is no let up in the crowds being seen in theatres. When that is translated into numbers, Sultan is notching up an almost 90 percent occupancy on Saturday, which is likely to bring in an earnings of anything between Rs 35-40 crore. At the higher end of the spectrum, the Rs 175 crore mark is definitely in reckoning to be achieved.

Check out the numbers so far: opening day box office collections Rs 36.54 crore, second day collection of Rs 37.3 crore and third day collection of Rs 31.5 crore. And as mentioned before, Saturday will likely be Rs 35-40 crore and Sunday is expected to top them all with the best take by Sultan since release by climbing well over Rs 40 cr mount – Day 1 Rs 36.54 crore + Day 2 Rs 37.3 crore + Day 3 Rs 31.5 crore.+ Day 4 Rs 35+ cr (Saturday prediction on lower end of scale) + Day 5 Rs 40+ cr (Sunday prediction) = Rs 180.34 cr (prediction for 5-day collection).

So, the figure is going to go through the roof. Some analysts have already mentioned the Rs 175 crore figure and at the moment it looks likely that Salman Khan will achieve it at a canter, no sweat. And if that comes to pass, Sultan is going to become not just Salman Khan’s best grossing movie, but also likely obliterate all records and become an all-time best Bollywood film too.

As such, Sultan juggernaut is on a roll and nothing seems to be standing in its way to disturb the momentum. From great critic reviews to even better word of mouth boost, Salman Khan is riding the crest of a gigantic wave.

When compared with other Salman Khan movies, Sultan box office collections have already become his best opener. It displaced Bajrangi Bhaijaan from top, which had logged a 3-day earnings of Rs 102.6 crore and the other one being demoted was Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo which had bagged Rs 101.47 crore.

If you are a Salman Khan fan, then read some some more stats: In 2016 itself, Sultan is the third movie that has entered the Rs 100-crore club alongside Akshay Kumar’s Airlift and the surprise package of the year Housefull 3, which starred Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh.

Another interesting piece of information is the fact that that Sultan has become Salman Khan’s own biggest opener ever – it muscled out the feel-good movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan that had logged earnings of Rs 102.6 crore in 3-day period and Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo that had earned as much as Rs 101.47 crore.

While all of these are magnificent achievements by all standards, what is Sultan looking at further along the future? Sultan prediction, figuring that the movie will continue to show strong numbers in second week and well beyond that too, at the highest point, the numbers mentioned are around Rs 400+ cr. Aamir Khan himself has said that Sultan is likely to break his own film PK’s collections, which were Rs 340.8 cr in India and, according to Bollywood Hungama an overall Rs 625.65 cr.

With Salman Khan getting the audience to lap up whatever he dishes out, can anyone take a stance on a particular number and say ‘Mission Impossible’ to Sultan earnings?
