Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is known for being uninhibited and expressive, both on screen and off it. However, when fringe groups threatened to chop the nose off Ranveer’s rumored girlfriend and co-actor Deepika Padukone during the protests against the movie Padmaavat, Ranveer had kept silent all through. Opening up on the controversy two weeks after the film’s release, the actor said that he was filled with rage. In an interview aired by TV channel India Today recently, Ranveer Singh opened up about a lot of things, from protests on Padmaavat to Deepika Padukone to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

While speaking on fringe Rajput groups willingness to chop off Deepika Padukone’s nose, Ranveer Singh said, “Well, I was filled with rage, there’s no doubt about that!” He further continued, “I had strong urge to act out speak out, however, I was given strict instructions not to act or speak about it.”

Being a professional, Ranveer Singh said that he understood the entire incident and decided not to express his emotions on the same. Ranveer said, “Since I was asked not to say anything by the director and producers as it could have complicated things further, I didn’t want to complicate their lives, I want to make their lives simpler and do my bit so things go off smoothly and this film gets made and it gets a release.”

“There was a tornado inside me, I actually had to be calmed down by people around me, by my team, my parents,” he said when asked about the protests ahead of the film’s release. Ranveer said that he found a way to channelize his anger. “Now when the movie has been released and is being celebrated, perhaps it was a good decision to channel it into my performance because that is my protest.”

Ranveer Singh also lauded director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the dedication and hard work he put into making Padmaavat, and the troubles he faced after making the film. He said, “I am happy about the success of this movie, mainly for Mr. Bhansali, because he went through the most. To mount this film and to put it all together to make this film to get a release!”

On a lighter note, the actor said that Deepika Padukone doesn’t think of him highly as an actor. Ranveer Singh said, “Deepika doesn’t rate me highly as an actor.”
