Shahrukh Khan's Raees can't seem to catch a break.
Shahrukh Khan’s Raees can’t seem to catch a break. The Shia community in UP has now objected to a scene in the trailer, which they deem religiously offensive, according to a report in DNA. The scene in question comes towards the end of the trailer, where SRK jumps over a procession while being chased by his enemies. The said procession is carrying the alam mubarak, which is a sacred structure for the Shia community. Members of the Shia community from Bareilly, UP, have written to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC )in an attempt to remove the scene.
Similar complaints have alse been registered at UP’s Jaunpur district court and in Mayur Vihar police station in Delhi. As Raees trailer has already been released, the members hope that its circulation would be stopped. Whether the CBFC will meet the community’s demands remains to be seen. Will the action sequence now make it to the final cut of the film?
Raees came under fire from the MNS earlier due to the casting of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan. In fact, Shahrukh had to fly to Dubai with Mahira to film a final song sequence for the movie, as the actress was not allowed back in the country. The matter was only resolved when Shahrukh Khan ensure MNS chief Raj Thackeray that Mahira wouldn’t come to India to promote the movie, even though the audience’s response to Mahira has been largely positive. The actor further added that he would not work with Pakistani actresses in the future. The movie’s launch had further hiccups when it was set to clash with Salman Khan’s Sultan at the box office on Eid. However, the film was delayed and is now going to meet a somewhat less threat in the form of Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil
