The film was rocking at the box office during the opening weekend, clocking Rs 10 crore and by Day 5, Pulimurugan collection had crossed the Rs 20 crore mark in Kerala.
Given its spectacular success at the box office, Pulimurugan is now all set to be dubbed in Chinese and even Vietnamese! Here are 5 stunning facts narrated by Director Vysakh in his interviews to Manorama and Mathrubhumi about the making of this action thriller:
1. While shooting the climax scene of Pulimurugan, Mohanlal was suffering from high fever and yet he did the diving scene. He worked on delivering the climax scene, which required eight takes. When the director apologized for this, Mohanlal’s reply was: “Perfection is a must in every scene. We have to give every scene our very best. We cannot disappoint fans.”
2. All actors and technicians including superstar Mohanlal were willing to take significant cuts in their fee for Pulimurugan.
3. To reduce the costs of the making of the film, the artists did not hesitate to cut down on most ”luxury” expenses while shooting in the forest.
4. Megastar Mammootty, whose film has clashed with the release of Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan at the box office, was one of the first people with whom this team had discussed the narrative. He shared memories of his experience while shooting a movie called ”Mrigaya” and urged them to use the latest computer technologies for visual effects.
5, Not only that, Mammootty expressed concern for Mohanlal’s safety while shooting the forest and tiger fight sequences and advised Vysakh to ensure that all security measures are firmly in place before the shoot begins.
As the Malayalam film industry celebrates the box office success of Pulimurugan, the question now is – Will Mohanlal’s ambitious action thriller enter the Rs 100 crore club?
Mohanlal fans are likely to say, “Fingers crossed.”
