Looks like social media’s obsession with Priya Prakash Varrier is not over yet. After breaking the internet with her iconic wink, that turned 18-year-old Priya Prakash into the latest social media obsession, and drew a slew of controversies along with it, Priya Prakash’s wink act has landed in some fresh trouble. Makers of the upcoming film ‘Kidu’ have released a clip from their upcoming film which bears an uncanny resemblance to the ”Manikya Malaraya Poovi” song. The wink in the clip is very identical to the one in the song sequence of ‘Oru Adaar Love’. Though the filmmakers beg to differ, allegations are rife that Majeed Abu, director of ‘Kidu’, lifted the sequence from ‘Oru Adaar Love’.
The producer of ‘Kidu’, Sabu PK said in a video message that the shooting and editing of the sequence had been completed before the release of Priya Prakash Varrier-starrer song. The producer of ‘Kidu’ also added that only after they finished with their film, director Achu Vijayan started working on Oru Adaar Love. Sabu claims instead of them, it is the Oru Adaar Love team that should be the accused of copying.
Manikya Malaraya Poovi is a very popular ‘mappila paattu’ (a Kerala folklore genre) which was recreated by Shaan Rahman with actor-playback singer Vineeth Sreenivasan’s voice. As you might have seen earlier, the song is set in the backdrop of a school fest which shows the budding romance between teenage boys and girls.
As this controversy remains, the makers are heaving a sigh of relief after Supreme Court put a stay on the FIR filed by a fringe group. The FIR was lodged with respect to the complaints by different groups claiming that the song had offended their religious sentiments. However, putting a stay order on the FIR has brought in major relief to the Oru Adaar Love team.
