With talk of churning out another Rs 100 crore plus movie getting shriller, superstar Salman Khan says Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ box office collections success is not on his mind – film’s Diwali release date is 12 November. Salman Khan says it is not about the numbers or frantic promotions, but a film which every person should watch with the entire family.
“This film is not about numbers or promotion. This film is about ‘go and see it with the family’. Get everyone together, make it like the time when we would go for picnics with family, make this one outing with the whole parivar. Trust me, you’ll love it. Full-on entertaining film,” Salman said at a press meet.
All three of Salman Khan’s films with director Sooraj Barjatya – “Maine Pyar Kiya”, “Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!” and “Hum Saath Saath Hain” – saw Salman Khan playing a character in love, with family values forming an important element to the love life.
Barjatya says he wants to take Salman Khan back to that space.
Barjatya’s films are known to be very clean family films and even with negative characters around, the film is on the whole very positive.
But Salman Khan wanted “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” to be even purer than what was written by Barjatya.
In fact, the film’s villain Armaan Kohli dies in the end but Salman Khan wanted him not to die. The writers eventually didn’t change it. About it, Barjatya said: “That’s what he believes, make it (film) as pure and pure.”
Salman Khan added: “In a Sooraj Barjatya film, if we cannot turn the negative into positive, then what. That (change in script) would’ve been so lovely… in the midst of such positivity, one negative person, that should not be.”
‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, which also stars Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher, and Swara Bhaskar, has got a November 12 release date.
