The brothers were last seen together in Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (2013). The film hit the theatres on September 8, 2017 and on the day of its release it garnered Rs 1.75 crore, which was quite underwhelming considering that Bobby has seen much better days. The film had a very slow start but it soon earned pace and by the end of its day 3 as it earned a total of Rs 7.25 crore in the opening weekend. The film opened against Arun Rampal starrer Daddy on Friday. Movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share some numbers of the film. In a series of Tweets, he wrote, “#PosterBoys showed good growth over the weekend, but the weekend total remains on the lower side… #PB.” In another post, he wrote, “#PosterBoys will have to maintain the trend on weekdays, or remain on Fri levels, to post a decent Week 1 total… #PB.” While sharing the growth rate of the fil, Adarsh wrote, “#PosterBoys day-wise growth in %… Sat [vis-à-vis Fri]: 37.14% Sun [vis-à-vis Sat]: 29.17% India biz. #PB.”
Taran Adarsh went on to share the day wise collection of the film in India and wrote, “#PosterBoys Fri 1.75 cr, Sat 2.40 cr, Sun 3.10 cr. Total: ₹ 7.25 cr. India biz.”
Before Poster Boys hit the silver screens, trade analyst Girish Johar had predicted the opening day collection of the film. He said, “I am expecting roughly around Rs 3 crores. The Deols have a strong fan-base in the northern side of India, hence I am expecting it to do better there.” Poster Boys faced a tough competition from Arun Rampal starrer Daddy as it is a biopic of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli. But Poster Boys has managed to do better regardless its competition.
Poster Boys is a Hindi remake of the 2014 Marathi film Poshter Boyz, which starred Dilip Prabhavalkar, Hrishikesh Joshi, Aniket Vishvasrao in lead roles. It was also produced by Shreyas.
