Padmaavat box office collections on day 1: In some very good news for Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari, cinemas, where no violence has happened, are reporting good business as footfalls have been heavy. In fact, in Delhi itself, a Theatre in Rajouri garden is witnessing a good turnout on the first day of Padmaavat release. According to the movie goers, they are very curious to know what the movie is all about and become the first among friends and family to find out. The common refrain was, ‘want to see the reason behind all that uproar’.

Despite the hype and the audience’s eagerness to find out exactly what the movie is all about, the Karni Sena led protests will surely be a big hindrance to the box office collection of the film. In fact, many cinemas in various states have put up signs saying they will not be screening the movie. Significantly, the film has garnered decent reviews from the critics and everyone is of the opinion that Padmaavat holds nothing to hurt the Rajput sentiments. But violence around the film might make the audience skeptical about their safety and as a result the turnout might happen to be low.

Remember, Padmaavat has a great chance to dethrone Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year from its all-time day 1 Bollywood record. If cinemas refuse to release the movie, then Padmaavat collections may fall to as low as under Rs 30 cr.

There are theatres though which have refrained to screen Padmaavat just to avoid unwanted protests from the Karni Sena. If the film is able to draw big crowds as per speculation, the Deepika Padukone starrer is set to earn a big number at the box office. Formerly Padmaavat was up for a clash with Akshay Kumar starrer PadMan. But after Khiladi Kumar decided to postpone its release, Padmaavat is set to reign at the box office at least for two weeks. Last week too there was no significant release at the box office and in the coming week no noteworthy film will hit the screens either. This makes a good opportunity for the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film to make big collections strides.
