Padmaavat box office collection prediction: After months of outrage in the political landscape around the film Padmaavat, formerly titled Padmavati, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor hits the screen tomorrow, ie January 25. Formerly scheduled for a December 1 release, the film was flayed by the Karni Sena supporters who were of the opinion that the film distorted the real historical facts. But after some unwanted ruckus across the country to the extent of being banned in some states, Padmaavat came back after Supreme Court stayed the bans and ordered a pan-India release. Padmavati is all set to relaease today amidst the Karni Sena protest who despite January 18 order are adamant on on their stand. The blitz of media coverage Padmaavat has received since December last year, a certain viruosity has built up around the film among the masses. The anxiousness has heightened to a level that people are just waiting to throng the theatres wanting to know what all led to the controversies. This is the case despite the fact that tickets have been priced at the higher end of the spectrum. Padmaavat is certain to open with a bang at the box office and might well earn as much as Rs 300+ cr in its lifetime if current trends are maintained and no further disruptions happen. Fear among movie goers is that they may get caught up in the violence, if it happens. This will affect the business of the movie tremendously.

As far as being the highest grosser of 2018 is concerned, then we can’t really take a call on that as early as this. The reason is that there are a number of other top movies coming in the year. Rajinikanth’s 2.0 that also stars Akshay Kumar. PadMan too is set for release and Akshay Kumar has always surprised with top class takes at BO. Then there is Zero starriing Shah Rukh Khan, Gold starring Akshay again. But most of all, there is Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan. But one thing is clear, Padmaavat will be in the top list. However, what may dent its prospects is that some movie critics have termed it as boring. If that is the takeaway for viewers, then Padmaavat will not get a good word of mouth boost. Impact would be catastrophic indeed.
Formerly Padmaavat was up for a clash with Akshay Kumar starrer PadMan. But after the Khiladi Kumar decided to postpone its release, Padmaavat is to reign on the box office at least for two weeks. Last week too there was no significant release at the box office and in the coming week no noteworthy film will hit the screens either. This makes a good opportunity for the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film to milk as much moolah as possible. With Pad Man shifting its release to February 9, yet another big boost has been provided to Padmaavat. This means Padmaavat will have as many screens at its disposal as are available. Scheduled to hit screens on January 25, the film will enjoy an extended weekend of four days enabling the film to maximise its box office take.
The film has received decent reviews till now and it is Deepika who steals the show in this Ranveer Singh dominated film. Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh gets earnest screen timing and shares a great chemistry with Rani Padmavati (Deepika). SLB directed film is a product of sheer cinematic brilliance and phenomenal artistic flair.
