Padmaavat review: Deepika Padukone starrer, Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has received a big thumbs up from this spiritual guru. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar who happened to watch Padmaavat in a special screening organised by Bhansali described the film as a beautiful tribute to Queen Padmavati. The screening of the film was held at Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s ashram in Bengaluru, Karnataka on January 15. The spiritual guru seems to have really appreciated the film a lot and said that it is a movie that will make everyone proud. He also remarked that nothing shown in the film is objectionable. Sri Sri was also surprised why certain sections are even opposing this film that honours Rajputs.

Padmaavat had faced the wrath of Karni Sena since the fringe group was of the opinion that Sanjay Leela Bhansali was distorting history and showing Rani Padmavati in a manner that was objectionable. Matters turned worse when Karni Sena announced a bounty on Bhansali and the movies’ leading lady Deepika Padukone. Several state governments had banned the release of the film including Rajasthan and Haryana. CM Vasundhara Raje had stated that the movie will not be allowed to be screened in Rajasthan. “The movie will not be screened in any cinema hall in the state. Rani Padmini’s sacrifice is associated with honour, esteem and pride of the state, so Rani Padmini is not merely a history chapter for us, but is our self-esteem. We will not allow her dignity to be hurt howsoever,” the CM said in a statement.

However, putting to rest all controversies, the Supreme Court today stayed the bans imposed by as many as 6 state governments on its release. This came after Padmaavat makers had knocked on the Supreme Court door to seek relief and allow them to release the movie on January 25, 2018.
