PadMan box office collection: After starting off on a decent note, Akshay Kumar starrer PadMan has finally started to gain momentum. After opening to a good response from both the audience and critics PadMan has etched an impressive second-day collection. The film on the second day has shown a considerable upward trend and has earned Rs 13.68 cr. Bollywood trade analyst tweeting about the collection wrote, ” PadMan makes RAPID STRIDES on Sat… Picks up SPEED… Biz should be STRONG on Sun too… HEALTHY weekend is on the cards… Fri 10.26 cr, Sat 13.68 cr. Total: ₹ 23.94 cr. India biz.” Inspite of being Akshay’s lowest opening in the last two years, PadMan has managed to gain momentum on the second day and has gone past the day 1 earning. Given the initial progress, looks like a healthy collection is surely on the cards. PadMan is inspired by the story of real-life superhero Arunachalam Muruganantham who brought in a revolution in rural India through his pathbreaking invention. The story is inspiring as well as entertaining and audiences are thronging the theatres to watch the first film made on the subject of menstrual hygiene.
The film has been released across 3350 screens worldwide 2750 domestic + 600 overseas). Since the subject of the film is unconventional, collections will be on a rather lower side. The promotional strategies used for the film were unconventional and this to a great extent helped the film grab the desirable momentum. Akshay Kumar aces his role as Lakshmikanth Chauhan in the film and the act can be deemed as one of his most endearing performances till date. The hype around the film is good enough to pull in some very good crowd to the theatres and well it has! The presence of Akshay Kumar will be another factor for the film to garner better sums. Helmed by R Balki, the film stars Radhika Apte, Sonam Kapoor apart from Akshay. Being a Balki film a cameo of Amitabh Bachchan was but obvious.
