PadMan Box Office Collection: Akshay Kumar starrer PadMan is in its 11th day since release and the film has managed to earn as much as Rs 70 crore. The film deals with the sensitive issue of sanitary and menstrual hygiene and it has had a steady but rather slow run at the box office. According to Bollywood Hungama, the film earned Rs 9.03 Crore in the weekend. This had lifted the domestic box office collection to Rs 71.90 Crore. The movie has fared well due to the partial holidays on weekends that included Mahashivratri and Valentine’s Day.

But, the fight seems to be tough for PadMan in the coming week when Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety releases on 23rd February. The film has youth-appeal aplenty and the successful star cast of Pyaar Ka Punchnama that has kept the audience waiting for its release. Meanwhile, PadMan also has to bear the pressure of last week’s release Aiyaary and of course, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, that is going super strong at the box office. Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor; the controversy hit film has grossed Rs 269.50 Crores on the domestic box office since its release on 25th January. Akshay Kumar will next be seen in Gold which is up for an Independence Day 2018 release. Akshay has had five back to back films crossing Rs 100 crore mark, which includes Airlift, Housefull 3, Rustom, Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.

PadMan also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte and it hit a total of 600 screens in the overseas market. In its 10th day, the film managed to gross Rs. 5.52 lacs from 15 screens in Australia and Rs Rs. 3.02 lacs from 9 screens in New Zealand.

PadMan is based on the social stigma that is attached to menstruation cycle. The movie is inspired by the real-life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham who brought about a revolution in the country with his low-cost machines which were able to manufacture cheap and affordable sanitary napkins for the weaker sections of society. Moreover, this is not the first time Akshay Kumar has tried to do films related to social issues. He impressed everyone in 2017 with Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which earned over Rs 200 crore.
