Padmaavat, which is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most-controversial film ever, has been doing wonders at the Box Office. The film stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji. The film opened for audience on January 25. On Day 1, i.e on Thursday the box office collections was Rs 24 crore, including paid previews. The next day on Republic Day, the collection was Rs 32 crore. On day 3, the film made 31 crore. On day 4 which was Monday the collection dropped a bit to 15 crore. The collection on day 5 was 15 crore. Day 6 fetched Rs 14 crore for the movie. On Day 7 the collection dipped slightly to 12.50 crore. On day 8, the collection was 11 crore. Combining them Padmaavat’s box office nett collection till Thursday is 166.50 crore. Its total Domestic Gross approximate collection is Rs 213.46 crore.
If we look at world wide collections then according to report from Bollywood Hungama, as of 28 January, the movies minted Rs 29.93 crore in North America (USA and Canada). In United Kingdom as of 28 January, the Deepika Padukone starrer earned Rs 7.24 Crore. In Australia, till January 28, the movie collected Rs 8.90 Crore .The movie collected 1.96 crore in New Zealand till January 28. In Germany, the period drama from Bhansali bagged 0.88 Crore till January 28. The total domestic Gross collection is impressive Rs 262.37 Crore.
Meanwhile, Padmaavat has become Deepika Padukone’s seventh film to enter the famed Rs 100 crore club, the highest by any leading lady. Other films include Happy New Year, Bajirao Mastani, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Race 2, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express had achieved the same feat. Interestingly, this is Ranveer Singh’s third movie which has entered the Rs 100 crore-club. Apart from Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani and Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela achieved the same feat. Moreover, all the three films were directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Shahid Kapoor who essayed the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh in the movie finally got an entry into the Rs 100 crore club.
