Padmaavat box office collection prediction: After witnessing some major hurdles on its way, Padmaavat is finally set to release on January 25. The film by far has gone through huge amounts of trouble and somehow this has also helped the film to increase the buzz around it. The film, which is a Republic day release, faces competition from another very anticipated film, Akshay Kumar’s PadMan. Earlier, we told you that Padmaavat might witness a loss of 30-35% in terms of business at the box office. This can even go up to 40% given the bans imposed by state governments on the film. But according to the latest predictions, it is being speculated in some quarters that Rs 200 crore mark will be easily achievable by Padmaavat. Despite competition from Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man, the film can score at the box office, provided it gets 3000+ screens release. Padmaavat meanwhile has the potential to score a Rs 70-75 crore extended weekend and even more. If the word of mouth review is strong for the film, Rs 100 cr club is sure to be a cakewalk for Padmaavat. And if this mark is achievable, the next big target will be Rs 200 cr club. There is no doubt that Sanjay Leela Bhansali helmed Padmaavat has this grandeur attached (atleast the trailer says so) and this will be one-factor that’s going to compel sizeable crowds to throng the theatres. Moreover, it’s releasing in 3D and IMAX which increases chance of attracting more people to the theatres.
But there’s a catch! All this is only possible if the Deepika Padukone starrer gets a pan-India release. Now that the film has knocked the Supreme Court door, chances are that the states will have to reverse their orders. This we witnessed for films like Arakshan and more recent Udta Punjab.
Inspite of all odds, if the film manages to touch the Rs 200 cr mark, it will be the first Republic Day grosser to do so. As of now, King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan’s 2017 starrer Raees is the highest grosser on the national holiday, grossing Rs. 137.51 crore.
