Padmaavat box office collection: No doubt the worst is over for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat and inspite of enjoying a positive response at the box office, the film has been affected by the series of protest to a great extent. Padmaavat was scheduled for a December 1 release but due to untoward situation, the film was postponed to a later release date. The Karni Sena protest across several parts of the country sparked because according to the Rajput outfit, the film distorted the historical facts. The outrage in the political landscape has cost the film to an extent which cannot be neglected. Inspite of a green signal from the Supreme Court to release the film pan-India, Padmaavat did not see the light of day in states like Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Bollywood Hungama reported that the film lost out on approximately Rs 50 cr due to the protest and non-screening of the film in various places. Inspite of doing a brisk business since its release on January 25, the loss is not negligible. Given the good start that the Deepika Padukone starrer film has taken it is being speculated that by the end of the 1st week the film would have entered the coveted Rs 200 cr club had the film witnessed a peaceful release. The film in the domestic market has earned Rs 176.50 cr and is said to enter Rs 200 cr club by Sunday. A lot was on stake for the filmmakers since the film was made with a whopping budget of Rs 190 cr approximately. The film is doing a good business and the word of mouth review, as well as the hype around the film, helped it grow. The extended Republic Day weekend too deserves some credit. The film starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor is receiving mixed reactions. But Padmaavat makers are up for another challenge\u00a0next week since Khiladi Akshay Kumar film PadMan hits the screen on Friday. Will Padmaavat stay strong in it's ground after this; let's wait and watch for this one.
