Padmaavat box office collection: Deepika Padukone over the years has established her mettle in the industry. From Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express to Padmaavat, the actress's long Bollywood journey is worth a mention. Adding to her long list of achievements, Deepika Padukone has this time has pushed down a Shah Rukh Khan movie, in which she played the lead actress, to No. 2 position. Reason is Padmaavat collection. Padmaavat box office collection added another Rs 5.50 cr on Wednesday and this took the total to Rs 231 cr. This is a big surprise and calls for a big celebration because Padmaavat has now become the actress' highest grosser ever. The film, after fetching this sum at the box office has surpassed the lifetime collection of Chennai Express. That film had collected Rs. 227.13 crore in its lifetime and Padmaavat has passed that in a matter of a couple of weeks. This is followed by Happy New Year which has a collection of Rs 202 cr. Deepika Padukone is surely taking pride in the fact that Padmaavat is also the first film to have a female protagonist to rake in such big sum at the box office. Padmaavat has become the only film to have entered the coveted Rs 200 cr club to have a female protagonist. The film helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali stars Bollywood biggies like Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor and it faced a lot of criticism before and after its release for allegedly altering history. However, that has not stopped the makers from earning moolah from the movie. Taran Adarsh, tweeting about the film, wrote, '' #Padmaavat is SUPER-STRONG. [Week 2] Fri 10 cr, Sat 16 cr, Sun 20 cr, Mon 7 cr, Tue 6 cr. Total: \u20b9 225.50 cr. India biz.'' Even in the overseas box office market, Padmaavat has grossed huge numbers. With such a staggering amount, Padmaavat has become the 10th highest all-time overseas grosser and has also surpassed the Salman Khan starrer Tiger Zinda Hai.
