It is also incraesingly clear that his aura has become universal and from the common man on the streets to prime ministers, ministers to businessmen, everyone wants to meet the iconic actor. A humble man, Rajinikanth never acts aloof and willingly does the needful. The latest to find the charm of Rajinikanth irresistible is the Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak. On his India visit, the premier took the opportunity to actually call on the actor in his house in Chennai and interact with his hero. Needless to say, the PM was not disappointed with the interaction as he was seen hugging and laughing with Rajini. Exactly what was talked about is not known, but clearly they must have exchnaged notes on the amazing success Rajini’s last movie elicited in Malaysia – it was a runaway box office collections success that was appreciated by one and all. Speaking to the media Rajinikanth said, “I was shooting a movie in Malaysia sometime ago.I could not meet him then,so I met him now.”

The meeting between the superstar and the premier comes in the wake of reports that Rajinikanth has also replaced Bollywood hearththrob Shahrukh Khan as the official Malaysian brand ambassador. Shahrukh Khan has been a staple success in India virtually all across India, but Rajinikanth has been in popularity, he is as popular in South East Asia and United States of America among the Indian disapora as he is in India, and his latest movie ‘Kabali’ has been a runaway success and this has cemented his place permanently as one of the best ever actors here. Malaysia being a country that has a beautifull shoreline and an enchanting countryside has been long known for its tourism. A big Indian-origin population has created an indelble link with India. And now an increasing number of tourists from India is driving this industry there. So the rumours were flying that Rajini has replaced SRK. However, after the meeting with Najib, Rajinikanth clarified that he is not helming the country’s campaign. He said, “I was not offered brand ambassadorship of Malaysia.
