Directed by American filmmaker Davis Guggenheim, the film opens a facet of Malala’s life on the big screen and tells an inspiring story of how a teenage girl, who was shot in the head on her way to school in Pakistan in 2012 by Taliban, is undeterred by the threats and continues her fight for girls’ right to education.

The documentary is nominated for an award alongside filmmaker Asif Kapadia’s “Amy” — that depicts the life and death of singer Amy Winehouse, Matthew Heineman’s “Cartel Land”, Marlon Stevan Riley’s “Listen to Me” and Jennifer Peedom’s “Sherpa”, read a statement on the official site of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
