Superstar Chiranjeevi’s fans can rest easy because ‘the Boss’ is back in his 150th movie, aptly titled Khaidi No 150. And going by the new trailer, which was released yesterday, Khaidi lives up to the distinction of being the actor’s 150th film with its slick action scenes and catchy ‘Boss is back’ background score. The 45-second clip shows Chiranjeevi doing what he does best – beating up baddies left, right and centre. Khaidi is a remake of the Tamil hit Kaththi by AR Murugadoss.

Chiranjeevi has returned to films after almost a decade and fans are all excited to see him back on the big screen. Directed by VV Vinayak, the film will reportedly see Chiranjeevi in a double role. It also stars Kajal Aggarwal as the superstar’s romantic interest. Bollywood actor Tarun Arora, who had a brief role in Jab We Met, will play the villain in the film. Chiranjeevi has previously collaborated with Vinayak in Tagore and Stalin. According to a report in HT, the trailer will be attached to his son Ram Charan’s action flick Dhruva, which releases in theatres today.

According to The Quint, the actor had taken a break from films to devote time to politics in 2008, forming his own party Praja Rajyam. In 2011, he merged Praja Rajyam with the Indian National Congress and eventually served as the Union Minister for Tourism in Manmohan Singh’s cabinet.

While Chiranjeevi had a strong fan following during his heyday, it remains to be seen whether he can fully reclaim his place in Tollywood as the megastar after a decade-long hiatus. Will the actor be able to thrill fans the way he did back in the day or will Khaidi No 150 be a hit and a miss? We’ll only find out on Sankranti, January 14, next year when the film is released.
