The 9th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati which is being hosted by Amitabh Bachchan has been doing incredibly well on Indian television. Since the start, this new season has maintained high TRPs and is being loved by the viewers for its inspiring stories, knowledge and sheer human values. Even though the contestants have been given an opportunity to win up to Rs 7 crore, we haven’t seen a big winner yet. But, all of that is about to change.

According to a report by The Indian Express, a contestant from Jamshedpur named Anamika Mazumdar has finally broken the jinx and became the first crorepati of the season. Anamika who is a social worker reportedly won over Rs 1 crore in an episode that was shot last night at the set of Kaun Banega Crorepati in Filmcity, Mumbai. This episode will be aired on TV sometime next month, as per the report.

“Anamika was a very practical and reasonable kind of a person who took each question very seriously. When she reached the crore mark, even with no lifeline left, she reasoned all the options before choosing the right answer. Even Big B was surprised with her confidence and risk-taking attitude,” a source close to the show confirmed the news to IndianExpress.com.

Anamika who is reportedly a music lover is married with two kids and runs Faith in India NGO, that’s dedicated towards uplifting women in Jharkhand, especially in the rural areas for the last three years. “Anamika’s mother was against her taking the bet, as, without a lifeline, she was up for a very big risk. It was her knowledge and reasoning skills that made her win. Both women were left in tears with happiness and excitement. Her mother hugged her tight, pride shining on her face. It was a big moment of joy for the entire team as they finally got their crorepati,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan has recently shot a special episode with India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu as part of the show’s Friday special episodes. The episode will be shown on TV soon.
