Kala Chashma song video starring Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malholtra is out and, considering they could not come up with something better, they took the old item number routine with heaving bosoms, gyrating hips, pumping crotches and loud sound – is that all that Bollywood has been reduced to?
Oh yes, there is a chashma, a kala chashma, in there too, prominently perched on Katrina, Sidharth and other actors’ noses. Perhaps the idea is to hide behind it. And why not! There is a need to even run ‘n hide as a grossly glitzy portrayal is provided that goes beyond anything that mere words can describe. Stone faced actors going through the motions, dull, jaded and tired.
The Kala Chashma moves are repetitive and stale; grow up Bollywood, get a life. India did. This is the kind of regulation stuff that was de rigueur a decade or more ago; that the world of cinema is still stuck there is beyond comprehension.
The same kind of stuff is available aplenty with small time music video creators and except for the fact that this particular one has fronted 2 very well known names in the industry will not change the fact that mouthing inanities and going through the sex act motions, fully clothed, is not going to work.
More well-proportioned top actresses and actors have tried this trick and fallen flat. Check out Sunny Leone – no we are not calling her a top actress. Now, who wants to watch Sunny or a movie by her? Hardly anyone – Netizens lusting after her photos and videos in the digital domain would beg to differ. However, her movies have hardly given any returns to the filmmakers. Almost all her films have been damp squibs despite the fact that these were nothing but skin shows. The dash of Bollywood masala added to a song ‘n dance routine is not what the doctor has recommended for Bollywood to get back its mojo.
We are not saying Katrina Kaif has not set the cash registers ringing, she did, but that was then, this is now. Surely if she wants to get back to the top of the charts she will need to think smarter. And Sidharth? Long way to go to salvation.
