Kaabil box office collections day 15: Hrithik Roshan is inching towards the Rs 150 crore mark, but whether that feat will be possible is not yet clear. On Wednesday (day 15), the movie picked up Rs 2.79 crore. This makes the film’s total earnings Rs 126.86 crore, according to a report in Bollywood Hungama. While Kaabil’s earnings get dwarfed in comparison to Shahrukh Khan’s Raees, which has a very good chance of hitting Rs 150 crore, Hrithik’s offering hasn’t fared too badly. Considering that the total cost of production was Rs 50 crore, Kaabil has already made a profit of around around Rs 76 crore. This figure does not taken into account the money Team Kaabil would have made by selling the film’s screening and audio rights to distributors, TV channels, discos etc.

Kaabil will face stiff competition due to the release of Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 tomorrow. Akshay’s sway on Indian audiences is much greater than Hrithik’s if you go by the box office figures. Of 2016’s entire box office collections of Rs 2,938 crore, Akshay’s films made up 12.41% of the revenue. Appearing in three movies – Housefull 3, Rustom and Airlift – the actor also enjoys a greater fan-following simply by being more visible on the big screen. In comparison, Hrithik’s offerings are much fewer and commercially successful ones are fewer still.

After Jolly LLB 2’s release, Kaabil’s daily earnings might dip to Rs 1 crore or below. This would mean the film will take approximately a month to reach the Rs 150 crore mark. However, Kaabil’s staying power seems limited and the movie will be pushed out of theatres for newer releases like The Ghazi Attack and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
