The Bombay High Court dismissed a petition, which was filed by Rabia Khan, in regards to the alleged suicide of her daughter and actress Jiah Khan in 2013. In the petition, Rabia attempted to challenge the CBI's charge sheet, which had termed the late Housefull star's death as a suicide. Rabia has maintained that Jiah's boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi had a hand in her death and therefore it needed to be termed as 'homicide'. At present, Sooraj has been charged with abetment of suicide. Today, Justices RV More and Shalini Pahansalkar Joshi dismissed the plea, according to a report in PTI. Rabia had also asked for a special investigation team to be assembled for the case and that the Bombay High Court would oversee the proceedings. The ruling by the bench, however, now means that Sooraj will be tried in the case by a lower court. Sooraj had filed an intervening application last year, in which he had alleged that Rabia had concealed vital information that was pertinent to the case. For instance, he claimed that Jiah had suffered from childhood traumas and had been suicidal in the past \u2013 all of which strengthened the case for the actress committing suicide on June 3, 2013. Seven days after Jiah's death, Sooraj was taken into police custody on June 10, 2013. He was released the next month on July 2 on bail.
