Actors from Tamil Nadu’s film fraternity reacted vehemently their new Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami of AIADMK winning trust votes in Tamil Nadu Assembly on Saturday. A ruckus was created in the house when MLAs thrashed each other, tore up papers and threw the Speaker’s chair, after the Speaker declared Palaniswami’s win. DMK’s MK Stalin’s shirt was also allegedly torn in the chaos.

The actors took to Twitter to vent out. Actor Siddhartha who is most remembered for his film ‘Rang De Basanti’. He tweetd “Is there any hope left for #TamilNadu or are we destined to see only this low level politics and zero conscience leadership?” Siddhartha said termed the situation in TN Assembly as ‘Shameful days for democracy”. He said that even children should be taught about what is happening.

Arvind Swami said that no one will accept the vote of trust which is decided in the house. AIADMK leaders will have to meet the people, as MLA’s don’t not represent people’s views. He also demanded re-election.

“In my opinion, the only solution that is acceptable under the circumstances is a re-election. This is not the people’s mandate,” he said on twitter. “Without exaggeration, I have not come across a single person in all my interactions in the last one week who supports this administration,” he added,”

“It’s a pity that there is a media blackout of the assembly sessions and only selective footage is released. Ppl have a right 2 c proceedings ,”

Actor Kamal Haasan took to Twitter on Saturday and left no stone unturned to jibe at the MLAs who attacked each other in Tamil Nadu Assembly today after Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami said that he has garnered majority of trust votes of the 238 MLAs. During an on-going tussle between DMK and AIDMK the TN Assembly over E Palaniswami’s win, saw another ruckus when MLAs threw the Speaker’s chair, tore papers and thrashed each other, allegedly DMK leader MK Stalin’s shirt was torn in the chaos. Haasan taunted the Tamil Nadu MLA’s saying these MLAs (who are fighting amongst each other) have to be given respect by the people of the state in spite of their rowdy behaviour. “People of Tamizhnadu, Welcome your respective MLAs with the respect they desrve back home,” he tweeted.

Soon after the Palaniswami’s announcement that he has gathered the trust votes, Haasan mocked the new style of democracy with which the vote count was declared in the absence of O Panneerselvam, where Palaniswami got 122 votes and 11 voted for Panneerselvam. Haasan tweeted, “There you go. Seems like we have another CM. Jai de-mockcrazy.”
