Modest in her stardom, in a recent interview, Priya revealed that she was only signed on to play a small role in the movie. She was supposed to appear in the song “Manikya Malaraya” along with some other scenes. However, good news for her legion of new fans may come soon. The viral nature of the Prakash Warrier wink video has made the filmmakers rethink their strategy because of her soaring popularity. Priya said that she has come to know that the film’s makers are considering doing some changes to the script so as to give her a more prominent role after all the publicity that she has got now.
Notably, Priya Prakash Varrier’s expressions in the clip have even impressed her principal. Marriette A. Therattil, Principal of the prestigious Vimala College who is also a senior nun attached to the Syro-Malabar Catholic Archdiocese of Thrissur said that she got to know about what is happening on social media on Monday.
“I came to know it very late in the evening as I was busy with meetings. Since it was late and the students had all gone home, I could not meet her,” she said.

Therattil revealed that last month Priya had come to seek permission for the song with her parents but was told not to miss any classes due to strict attendance rules. “Since attendance is strict and a must, I told them that they should see that she should not miss classes and gave her the permission (to shoot). Honestly, I never knew that she would rise to this sort of instant stardom, and I am waiting to see her,” she added.
However, to the concern of many, the song has landed in trouble as two Hyderabad youngsters have filed a complaint about the lyrics, alleging that when translated to English, it hurts the sentiments of Muslims as it makes derogatory references to the Prophet.

“When I first saw the viral video I fell in love with it. I watched it so many times and shared it many times. I wanted to know the meaning of the song so I got the original Malayalam lyrics and translated it online and also took help of some people. I found that the song referred to the romance between the prophet and his wife Khadija. It is inappropriate and an insult to the prophet,” Muqeeth said while talking about the complaint.
The song which has turned Priya Prakash Varrier into an overnight sensation was produced by music composer Shaan Rahman and actor-playback singer Vineeth Sreenivasan. The duo previously gave us the popular song ‘Jimikki Kammal’.
