Positive trends in box office collections show audience loved ‘Happy New Year’: Red Chillies CEO
Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Happy New Year’ box office collections are well on their way to enter the Rs 200 crore club. Though the film’s business has faded in the second week after a humongous opening weekend, the Farah Khan musical heist extravaganza is still setting the pace despite competition from multiple releases in week.
And that has led trade analyst Akshaye Rathi to make a box office collections prediction that ‘Happy New Year’ will make over Rs 250 crore.
“But whether they will actually manage to break the Dhoom 3 record cannot be predicted. They don’t have any competition for a week or so,” Rathi said.
“The positive trends in collections across India show that the audience have loved ‘Happy New Year’ and the families have gone to the theatres to get fully entertained,” Venky Mysore, CEO, Red Chillies Entertainment, also said in a statement.
As of Day 10, ‘Happy New Year’ box office collections at the domestic box office stand at Rs 179.80 crore, according to a Bollywood Hungama report.

After the opening blockbuster weekend with Rs 108.86, ‘Happy New year’ collections fell to just Rs 22.23 crore in the second weekend failing to beat Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’ that collected Rs 34.02 crore.
