But more than these 2 movies, the real action is happening elsewhere! Yes, you read that right, forget PadMan, Padmaavat box office collections! Bollywood star Aamir Khan has etched a new record in the books of Bollywood box office collection by beating stars like Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan. Aamir has become the only Indian actor to occupy the top 3 spots in the list of biggest Hindi film grossers at the worldwide box office, according to trade analyst Ramesh Bala. Aamir, who is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film Thugs of Hindostan, has been ruling the worldwide box office since the release of PK in 2014. PK minted close to Rs 600 crore in worldwide earnings, amidst which Rs 250 crore came from overseas collection and Rs 340.8 crore from the domestic box office. Surprisingly, despite such huge numbers the film stands at the third position. Dangal occupies the top position while Secret Superstar now ranks second. Wrestling-oriented film Dangal released in 2016 and it occupies the top spot. Released on December 23, 2016, the film went on to gross Rs 387.38 crores at the domestic box office. The film released in China in over 9,000 screens on May 5, 2017 went on to be the biggest hit for a hindi film earning an unprecedented $193 million at the box office. The movie touched a whopping Rs 2,000 crore at the worldwide box office.

Secret Superstar has also weaved magic at the China box office where Aamir has built a strong fan base. The film released on January 19, 2018 earned Rs 21 crore on its opening day. Reports suggest that the film has gone on to collect more than Rs 650 crore from China itself and it has maintained the top position at the box office also, as it has grossed over Rs 830 crore worldwide. According to Bala, “ @aamir_khan ‘s #SecretSuperstar is now the All-Time No.2 Hindi movie at the WW Box office..With ₹ 833 Crs in WW Gross as of Feb 10th 2018, it has crossed #PK ‘s ₹ 832 Crs WW Gross..”.

Aamir Khan has left behind Bollywood superstars behind. Salman Khan witnessing Aamir’s success at the China box office has planned to release Bajrangi Bhaijaan in China on March 2.
