Fitoor movie, the much anticipated Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor starrer hit theatres today. Katrina Kaif is an established star and Aditya is all set to establish himself in the industry as force to reckon with, but both have a lot riding on the success of this movie to burnish their respective stars and keep their Bollywood quotient high. So, keeping that in mind, we highlight here some of the important aspects of the film in 5 points and see if the film works out well, or not.

1. While the film does have its moments under the sun, Fitoor director Abhishek Kapoor (best known for his films like Kai Po Che and Rock On) seems confused about the narrative. The film is nothing but an amalgamation of confusing and disjointed screenplay (Supratik Sen, Abhishek Kapoor) and poor direction (Abhishek Kapoor). This makes the film look like an arthouse cinema featuring popular stars. The saving grace is that despite the flaws, the film does look extremely appealing visually.

2. Another aspect that does not help at all is the odd pairing of Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif, who lack the much needed ‘chemistry’ to light up a movie of this genre. After a point, the film’s proceedings become too difficult to comprehend.

3. As for the performances, the lead pair Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif try to carry the film on their shoulders, but the confusing and lacklustre script acts as a big speed breaker. Both, Aditya and Katrina seem to struggle in the film with their respective characters.

4. Tabu does a decent job, but the explanation for her irrational behaviour throughout the film comes in too late. Ajay Devgn and Lara Dutta are totally wasted in the film. However, Rahul Bhatt, Aditi Rao Hydari, Akshay Oberoi, Delbar Arya and others are left trying their best to help the film move forward.

5. The film’s music (Amit Trivedi) is nothing to write about as only Fitoor title track and ‘Pashmina’ stands out. The film’s background score is average. So, though the film is only 2 hours and 11 minutes long, it feels like a never ending saga. At the Box-Office, the movie will appeal only to a minuscule set of multiplex audience.
