Ekta Kapoor, one of the producers of controversy-ridden “Udta Punjab”, says she is happy that eminent filmmaker Shyam Benegal has heaped praise on the film.
Benegal, who heads the government-appointed censor board revamp committee, has not only called the film extremely well-made but also complimented the makers for showing the prevalent issue in Punjab, that is of substance abuse.
Asked for her reaction to the veteran filmmaker’s word of praise, Ekta told PTI, “Shyam sir (Shyam Benegal) (is) a very revered man. I am humbled by his comments regarding the film.”
Ekta, who has produced the film under her banner of Balaji Motion Pictures, however, refused to make any comment on the censorship controversy surrounding the film.
“Beyond that I cannot comment anything. We have decided that there will be only (one) spokesperson for the film and that is Anurag (Kashyap).”
The “Udta Punjab” team has locked horns with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after it suggested 13 changes in the film.
