Dilwale box office collections: The only thing going for both Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani is that Christmas is almost upon us and the holiday should give them both some much needed relief in terms of getting seats filled in theatres - both are Rs 100 cr films now, but only due to foreign take.
Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dilwale box office collections reached a respectable Rs 21 crore on day 1 in India alone after logging an occupancy rate of 70% in theatres – overall, Dilwale bagged Rs 24.26 crore. The collections were not ideal, but surprisingly, competition in the form of Deepika Padukone starrer Bajirao Mastani was quite stiff. Dilwale got more screens than Bajirao, but in terms of number of theatres, the SRK starrer could not manage enough of them to ensure new records. Of course, it did not pull off a miracle, which everyone expects Shah Rukh Khan to do every time he releases a movie. Having said that, Dilwale is on the brink of reaching the Rs 100 crore mark on the strength of its India collections alone till day 6.
Dilwale box office collections tallied Rs 20.09 crore (day 2) and Rs 24 crore (day 3) and for the opening weekend the take ballooned to Rs 89.11 cr.
On Monday (day 4), Dilwale box office collections fell to Rs 10.09 crore. Since it was Monday, it was expected to do that, but not to such an extent. It was definitely a blow as the movie was expected to do well for at least two weeks and here it was stumbling in the very first week itself.
On Tuesday (day 5) Dilwale box office collections fell into single digits at Rs 9.42 crore. This took the domestic total to Rs 84.60 crore and with the foreign earnings added, the tally rises to as much as Rs 140.60 crore.
The earnings fell to their lowest ever at Rs 8.79 crore on day 6 (Wednesday). This took the India collections to Rs 93.39 crore and the overall figure to Rs 149.39 crore. In comparison, Bajirao Mastani box office collections on day 6 held steady at Rs 9.21 crore – overall Rs 105.63 crore.
The only thing going for both Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani is that Christmas is fast approaching and that should give them both some much needed relief in terms of getting seats filled in theatres. Aside from that, another big factor that will decide the fate of both movies is the word of mouth booster shot. If those who watched the movies like them, then their ‘reviews’ will get more and more people to come to theatres, especially on holidays.
Dilwale box office collections prediction is tough to make, but some of the obvious things have to be noted. If one of them survives into the second week (both were not expected to do so, but here they are giving each other some tough competition) , with Christmas almost upon us and the new year approaching, chances of more and more people watching these movies increases and that will surely boost their overall lifetime collections – and perhaps even set some new records. Of course, all of these calculations can go awry if Friday’s release, ‘Star Wars’, becomes the kind of hit it is now abroad.
So, between Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani, which one will survive? We will let you pick the winner in the current clash of the titans.
