Randeep Hooda-Nandana Sen starrer ‘Rang Rasiya’ box office collections have failed to make an impact with the audience with just around Rs 3.89 crore business so far. The film has had a poor showing compared to ‘The Shaukeens’, which was released on the same day.
“Rang Rasiya, an attempt to sell some nudity in the name of an artistic biopic about a celebrated artist, Raja Ravi Varma, has not worked. When biopics on well-known heroes of the recent time don’t work, this film was a long shot. It fared poorly missing a first day crore by miles and went on to end the weekend with a poor Rs.2.1 crore,” observes trade analyst Vinod Mirani.
Another analyst N P Yadav thinks it is the content that works today and not nudity.
Calling it an art film of sorts, analyst Akshaye Rathi said one did not really except fireworks at the box office with ‘Rang Rasiya’. “Yet, from the rough estimate that I have, it seems to have garnered Rs 1.10 crore on the opening day, Rs 90 lakhs on the second day and Rs 1.30 crore on the third day,” says Rathi, adding that films like The Shaukeens and Rang Rasiya are meant to run for a week.
