Renowned Mumbai-based musician Karan Joseph allegedly committed suicide by leaping from the window of a 12th-floor apartment in Bandra’s Concord Apartments on Saturday. Nothing has been zeroed in on the motive behind the artist’s alleged suicide and no suicide note has been acquired. Karan was putting up with friends in Concord Apartments from where he jumped to his death, according to Indian Express. Rudy Wallang, Joseph’s friend, colleague and lead guitarist of the popular band Soulmate talking about him said, “That keyboard was his crutch, his shelter from everything in the world. And when he placed his fingers on those black-and-white keys, he was a genius.”
Karan was well known for his impressive fine jazz improvisation who was popularly called The Karan Joseph (Madfingers) Project. He had performed with reputed artist across the country whose virtuosity had earned him the name of Madfingers by his peers. According to an officer of Bandra police station,” A few months ago, the deceased was in Mumbai for a show and met a few people who were very impressed with his playing and invited him to stay with them the next time he was in Mumbai.”
According to police, Karan was staying in the 12th-floor apartment with four other people. On the day of suicide, Karan was seated with his other flatmates who were watching the news. Karan was continuously staring at the window and suddenly jumped out of the window which had no grill. Karan was declared dead on arrival. His father and brother arrived in Mumbai on Saturday night. Karan was associated with Soulmate for three years. ”We’ve lost a brilliant musician today,” says Wallang.
