Aamir Khan’s Dangal has broken all box office records in China as his film grossed $19 million in five days, PTI reported. The film has already earned 120 million yuan and is having a great run at the Chinese Box Office. Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ earned around 118 million yuan in one month last year when it was running in theatres in China. Now the Nitesh Tiwari-directed film has broken that record too. “We reached 120 million yuan today, on the fifth day. ‘Dangal’ is having a great run in China,” PTI reported Prasad Shetty as saying. Shetty is partner of Strategic Alliance, a Chinese firm promoting Indian films in China. The film was released in 7000 screens all over China. Dangal’s dubbed version and one with Chinese subtitles has so far had about 34000 shows.
It is the father-daughter theme that has hit the right chord with the Chinese audience according to Shetty. Aamir Khan is popular in China especially after the Chinese version of “3 Idiots” became a massive success there. And PK strengthened the fan club.
Movie buffs will be eying competition when the Tamil, Telugu film, “Baahubali: The Conclusion” is released in the country. It is said that it is going to be the next Indian film to be released there, according to PTI. Baahubali 2 has broken all records set by any Hindi film yet in North America as well as in India. It went on to gather a Rs 100 crore there in the first weekend in US. Its total of US and Canada release stands at Rs 107.34 crore on May 8, according to movie biz analyst Taran Adarsh.
