Even while Aamir Khan’s Dangal was released about eight months in the country, the movie continues soar abroad even today. It is doing good business in movie theatres… in China, of all places. The audience in the country seems to love Aamir Khan. His previous movie, 3 Idiots had been a huge hit in the country, bollywoodlife.com said. Now, Dangal, as per the report, is doing great business in Hong Kong. Soon after its release, the movie was at number two in Hong Kong with HK$1,255,233 or Rs 1.03 cr in earnings. On Saturday Dangal rose to the number 1 position earning Rs 2.95 crore.
Dangal had seen phenomenal success whether it was in India or in China. It was a critically acclaimed and loved by fans. The movie spectacularly realised its true potential after it was released in China. And within no time, Aamir Khan was the darling of Chinese masses. In fact, even Chinese President Xi Jinping had told Prime Minister Narendra Modi on how he loved the movie, Indian Express said.
The Aamir Khan-starrer movie has replaced Mia Wasikowska and Johnny Depp’s Alice Through The Looking Glass as the 30th biggest hit film of the year 2016. The film earned $300 million (Rs. 1,930 crore) at the box office. “#Dangal with $301 M replaces #AliceThroughTheLookingGlass ‘s $299.5 M to become 2016 ‘s No. 30th movie and enters Top 30 2016 WW BO Club!” Trade analyst Ramesh Bala had tweeted.
This is the first time that any Bollywood film has achieved such feat. Bala further wrote, “Dangal becomes the 1st Indian movie to do US$300 M at the WW BO.. #China – $179.41 M, #Taiwan – $6 M, RoW – $115.62 M, Total – $301.03 M.”
