After many speculations and rumours about Coldplay finally playing in India, the band has been reportedly scheduled to be playing in Mumbai on November 19. But there has been much news on the whopping price of tickets for the much-anticipated concert by Coldplay. However, to much relief of the fans, most of the tickets for the show, can be FREE. Yes, it is a charitable initiative by Global Citizen where it will host the band Coldplay along with many others, as part of an anti-poverty initiative, and the audience can watch them for free. The event in which Coldplay will perform is an initiative by ‘Global Citizen’ and is scheduled to take place at the MMRDA in Mumbai on November 19. There have been reports that the tickets for the event will cost the audience somewhere between Rs 25,000 to Rs 5 lakh, depending on the proximity to the stage.

As it turns out, most of the tickets for the concert cannot be bought. Instead, according to the Global Citizen website, Coldplay fans will have to sign up to ‘become a Global Citizen’, which means that one will have to perform certain charitable actions as part of the campaign. Users will need to download the app on their mobile devices where they will be notified about the ‘Action’. Since the beginning of the Poverty project with the help of the UN in the year 2008, Global Citizen has been trying to spread awareness about poverty in the world and how people can take actions to curb it. In the current method, the users will have to take those actions which will gift them with ‘points’. The actions will range from tweets to petitions.

If earlier concerts by Global Citizen are any indication, this is the way to go. Even though certain seats are kept aside to be books under ‘Global VIP’, they are still not priced as high as the prices that are doing the rounds. So if you want to visit the concert and don’t mind being a little far away in the crowd, you can try your luck. Yes, the tickets will be provided after a series of lucky draws.
