Veteran actress Shabana Azmi, who is set to appear in Sonam Kapoor-starrer ‘Neerja,’ slated to be released today, feels that the censor board in India is now-a-days showing maturity towards films.
In the context of the current censorship debate, the 65-year-old actress, who grabbed spotlights simultaneously in parallel and mainstream cinema, shared her experience of ‘Fire,’ wherein though Shiv Sena created a huge mess, Censor Board passed the movie without a single cut, reports the Dawn.
Azmi even said that the audience has become more open and are ready to try both kinds of cinema.
The actress went on to say that she believes that the present is a very happy time in the Hindi film industry. With typical masala films, which are catering to the lowest common denominator, movies like ‘Masaan’ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ are also being well accepted.
