Reality TV star Cailtyn Jenner, known as Bruce Jenner before gender transition, has been declared a woman by Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Jenner, 65, filed for a name and gender change in the court on September 15, reported People magazine.

On Friday, Jenner’s lawyers appeared in court, and a Los Angeles judge approved the request. Jenner was not present in the courtroom, based on a live stream of the proceedings.

According to court documents, Jenner formally requested to be called “Caitlyn Marie Jenner” instead of “William Bruce Jenner” in the name and gender petition.

The filing states Jenner also requested that information necessary for the process, such as her medical history, be sealed.

Jenner said although public support for her transition has been positive, she has received “unwelcome negative attention from private citizens,” and her motion to file portions of the petition under seal was granted.
