Baahubali 2: The Conclusion box office collections on day 1: What was widely speculated at and even expected, has happened! The Box office history has been rewritten and a new record created! Baahubali 2 collection on opening day has not just entered the Rs 100 cr club on the strength of its day 1 box office collections, it has gone and done even better and earned as much as Rs 121 crore – a figure that has never before been seen in teh annals of Indian entertainment industry. In one fell swoop, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has beaten teh record of Shah Rulk Khan’s Happy New Year which had earned just under Rs 45 cr on day. Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and even Southern superstar Rajinikanth have all been eclipsed in a period of just 24 hours!
According to a tweet by movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion opening day collections have jumped over Rs 121 crore. He also provided the break-up of the earnings divided into 2 main markets – North India and the cumulative Southern markets too. Adarsh said that Baahubali 2 Hindi has earned Rs 41 crore while Telugu + Tamil + Malayalam generated a sum of Rs 80 crore!
Earlier, Indian Express had reported that the movie starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati already raked in more than Rs 500 crore, which is mostly from the sales of its theatrical rights.
Baahubali 2 has now been released in three languages, including Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. The report, quoting a pre-release break-up provided by industry tracker Ramesh Bala, said that theatrical rights of the film’s Hindi version fetched a whopping Rs 120 crore. The movie’s prequel, that was released in 2015, became the first south Indian movie dubbed in Hindi to collect Rs 100 crore at the Bollywood box office.
