Although Baahubali – The Conclusion (also called Baahubali 2) is slated to release in April 2017, a scene from the hotly anticipated film has been leaked online and is going viral on social media. The leaked footage features nothing less than the climax fight scene, which threatens to kill the suspense of the film for eager fans. A video editor from the graphics unit of the film has been arrested on charges of breach of trust after producers Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni lodged a complaint. The clip first appeared on YouTube, but was then removed due to copyright issues. By then, however, it had already been shared on Twitter and is now fast getting passed around on social media.
Earlier, director S.S. Rajamouli had announced that the film’s shooting was on schedule and the climactic fight scene had been completed. The Baahubali team has pleaded with fans to not share the 2-minute video. “We are making every effort to ensure that the leaked content is not in the public domain. We would be grateful if you can cooperate with us in this effort. We request you not to share the content and report any links on internet or social media to firstname.lastname@example.org,” they said. Although the person first who posted the clip on Twitter has removed the video after he/she received a barrage of criticisms. This did not stop others from sharing the video, however.
The leaked footage appears to be an unedited battle sequence between Anushka Shetty, who is reprising her role as Devasena, and Prabhas, who plays the titular character. It also appears to have some CGI shots. While the makers of the film have been fiercely guarding the answer to, “Why Katappa killed Baahubali,” this scene unfortunately solves that mystery – making the leak even more harmful. It is unknown what legal action the team behind the film, which is a follow-up to last year’s South Indian cinematic juggernaut, will take against the person who leaked the footage.
