Far from falling flat, which was widely expected pre-release, ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ box office collections have continued to chug along merrily with opening week take adding up to Rs 10.64 crore.
‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, which stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar, had raked in Rs 6 crore in the opening weekend at the domestic market and the film’s collections have now touched Rs 12.58 crore.
The movie maintained a steady pace as other new releases, including Mallika Sherawat’s ‘Dirty Politics’, failed to draw audiences in any great numbers. In fact, ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ has even seen a jump in occupancy, which is going to reflect in the box office numbers going forward.
A favourable stat that bodes well for the movie is that its second Friday (Holi) box office collections (Rs 1.95 crore) is more than what it earned on opening day and this it managed on the day when the competition from cricket was at its stiffest with India playing against the West Indies at the World Cup.
‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ generated Rs 1.11 crore on Monday, Rs 2.12 crore on Saturday and Rs 2.85 crore on Sunday, and a steady Rs 1.07 crore on Monday before picking up Rs 1.11 crore on Tuesday, Rs 1.08 cr on Wednesday and closing Week 1 with Rs 1.24 crore on Thursday.
The Sharat Katariya directed film was made on a budget of Rs 15 crore, which includes Rs 9 crore as cost of production.
Take the opinion poll:
The movie is a shot in the arm for Ayushmann Khurrana in box office collections terms as it has become one of his best-performing films, behind the 2014 release ‘Bewakoofiyaan’, which generated Rs 14.01 crore. However, his last movie ‘Hawaizaada’ made only Rs 3.53 crore.
