The figures are far in excess of expectations considering the low traction of horror movies in the country. Directed by David F Sandberg, the demonic doll horror movie released in India on August 8 under the Warner Bros Pictures banner and is being screened in four languages – English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. As per a statement released by the film’s publicist, the registered business of the film is Rs 35 crore (gross) till Monday.
Speaking on the phenomenal success of the movie, Denzil Dias, Vice President and Managing Director, Warner Bros Pictures – India told IANS, “Annabelle is back, and we’re thrilled to see that she hasn’t lost her touch. Director David F. Sandberg and his talented cast and crew have delivered the exhilarating scares that fans across India have been waiting for, and these terrific results and enthusiastic word-of-mouth demonstrate that the appetite is only growing.”
According to the figures released by Boxofficecollection.in, Annabelle: Creation bagged Rs 4.50 crores on its opening day. The movie clashed with Bareilly Ki Barfi and has beaten it by a huge margin. The Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao starrer did a business of Rs 2.42 crore on day one, reported Indian Express. With the opening weekend collection of Annabelle: Creation stands at Rs 16.25 crore, Bareilly Ki Barfi lags at Rs 11.30 crore.
Betting on the word-of-mouth publicity, Annabelle: Creation saw a significant rise in its collection and bagged Rs 5.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.25 crore on Sunday.
Starring Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman and others, Annabelle: Creation is a sequel to 2014’s Annabelle. The movie explains the origin of the eponymous demonic doll and shows how it came to be possessed by an evil entity.
